Cacao & Resilience: A Journey Through Flavors and Stories in Rural Tayrona

COL-01 / 1-day Trip

This beautiful Cacao Tour take place in a farm located near Tayrona National Park that is surrounded by spectacular landscapes. This activity is the result of an initiative by a dedicated group of women, all victims of the armed conflict, who are cacao farmers in rural Colombia. During this tour, you will not only learn about cacao but also gain insight into how cacao farmers live and work with the fruits that have sustained them for decades.

The tour begins with a transfer to the “San Rafael” sector. From there, we will walk about 5 minutes to the farm entrance, passing through the “Stone River”. A family member from “Finca La Fortuna” will welcome you and explain the farm’s history, along with the processes and products derived from cacao.

The tour begins by learning about the types of cacaos grown in the farm and the different blends made. Visitors will familiarize themselves with the fruit, experiencing its smell, touch, and taste. You will also visit the plantations and learn about the planting process, harvest times, growth, care, collection, and the final transformation into chocolate, among other important aspects of producing high-quality, 100% organic chocolate.
After the tour, transfer back to Santa Marta. We can also accommodate a transfer to Cartagena if your travel plans lead you there.
