Nestled high in the Andes at an altitude of 2,640 meters, Bogotá offers a unique blend of cultural experiences, historical landmarks, and a dynamic urban life. The city’s lively atmosphere is complemented by a thriving culinary scene, with a wide array of restaurants offering both traditional Colombian dishes and international cuisine. The vibrant nightlife, with numerous bars, clubs, and live music venues, ensures there’s always something to do after dark.

Your accommodation is situated on the peaceful outskirts of Salento, offering a serene retreat surrounded by lush nature. Just a short walk from town, you’ll have easy access to Salento’s main plaza and the bustling Calle Real, a vibrant street lined with cafes, restaurants, and shops featuring locally crafted goods.

Enjoy a free afternoon to relax and explore the tranquil setting—perfect for unwinding as a family and immersing yourselves in the heart of Colombia’s coffee country.
Included meals: Breakfast

Day 3

Cocora Valley
The Cocora Valley, located in Colombia’s Coffee Region, offers one of the country’s most scenic hikes. During this private tour you will get familiar with Colombia’s National Tree, the wax palm (Ceroxylon Quindiuense). It’s the biggest palm in the world with heights up to 60 meters. The wax palm was qualified by the Alexander Von Humbolt Institute as “endangered” as was the yellow-eared parrots that only make their nests in these palms.

The length and strength of the tour depends on the physical shape of the visitors and therefore the exact route will be determined together with the guide according to your interests. Whether you are a Nature enthusiast or not, this day is very likely going to be one of the most beautiful memories you will bring back home.

A tour of the Cocora Valley offers an unforgettable combination of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and warm Colombian hospitality, making it one of the highlights of any visit to this beautiful country.
Included meals: Breakfast, Picnic

Day 4

Bike Tour & Waterfalls
After a well-deserved rest, it’s time for a cycling tour in Salento’s surroundings. Meet with the Bike Tour leader at 7:30am for a custom bicycle setup and personal protective equipment distribution.

From there, continue to the Santa Rita Waterfall Farm, home to natural paramo water pools, ideal for swimming and cooling off. Explore the coffee cultural landscape surrounding the farm, where you will discover the fascinating tunnels of an unfinished railway project from almost 100 years ago. Guatape & El Peñol – Río Claro Reserve
Located in the heart of Antioquia, Guatape and the Peñol Boulder are iconic destinations with breathtaking natural beauty and cultural richness.

Guatape is a charming town renowned for its vibrant colors and picturesque streets adorned with intricate zocalos, brightly painted bas-reliefs that depict the region’s history and traditions. Visitors can wander through the cobblestone streets, exploring local artisan shops, cafes, and restaurants offering traditional Colombian cuisine.

One of the highlights of a visit to Guatape is ascending the Peñol Boulder, a colossal granite rock formation that rises 200 meters above the surrounding landscape. Embarking on the 740-step staircase carved into the side of the boulder rewards adventurers with awe-inspiring panoramic views of the surrounding lakes, islands, and rolling hills.

In addition to its natural wonders, Guatape offers a boat tour on the nearby reservoir allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the region’s stunning scenery.

In the afternoon, transfer to Rio Claro. Rio Claro Reserve is a private conservation project for the protection of a tropical rainforest in excellent conditions. The rainforest grows over limestone rocks, creating beautiful scenery of biodiversity, accompanied by the clear river water flowing over a splendid marble canyon.

Upon arrival, the guide will give you a short introduction to the ecosystem of the forest. There will be free time to enjoy the river.
Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Rio Claro: We avoid visiting this area on local holidays and during weekends. If needed, we can change the order of the city tour in Medellín and visit the Rio Claro Reserve on another weekday.

Pick up at Rio Claro and transfer to the airport for your flight to Cartagena, scheduled around midday to ensure a relaxed departure.

Upon arrival in Cartagena, you’ll be met by a staff member for a transfer to your hotel, located in the heart of the city’s historic district. Cartagena is perhaps Colombia’s most beautiful and interesting town. This beautiful city welcomes you with its impressive colonial architecture, cobblestone streets, and vibrant atmosphere steeped in history.

Day 10

Cartagena City Tour
In the morning, meet with the guide and explore historic Cartagena. Start the tour by visiting the San Felipe Fortress, the most technically advanced military building during Spanish colonial times, then visit the old “Popa” Monastery where you will have a wonderful view of the city. Between these two places, visit the popular marketplace of Bazurto where fruits, vegetables and fish are traded by the locals, most of them descendants of the slaves of the colonial times.

In the afternoon/evening there will be free time for shopping, and perhaps to enjoy a drink on the old fortress walls, overlooking the sunset on the Caribbean.

Included meals: Breakfast

Day 11

Cartagena

After a 3-hour drive, arrival to the Natural Reserve, Sanguaré, where we will check in to a very nice beach lodge.

Free time in the afternoon to enjoy the beach.
Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 13

Kayak, Beach, Hike & Bioluminescent Plankton
After breakfast we get ready for a tour in Kayaks. The activity begins by paddling for approximately 20 min in the open sea along the coastline, until finding a narrow entrance to the lagoons. You will paddle through the Mangrove until reaching the main lagoon, where you can observe the fragile and interesting ecosystem within the quite waters. Return to the lodge before noon for lunch.

In the afternoon there will be a guided tour in the dry forest. It’s a unique ecosystem, and your guide will explain how the local flora has adapted to survive with minimal rainfall. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Depending on the time of the month, you may have the chance to join a magical night tour to witness bioluminescent plankton. This unforgettable experience takes place by kayak, either in the evening or during the early morning hours—timed according to the moon’s position. If you’ve never seen bioluminescence before, this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. With every paddle stroke or movement in the water, the plankton light up, creating a surreal glow in the darkness. Please note that this tour is not included in the main itinerary but can be easily arranged at the lodge with the hosts.
