Welcome – Puerto Maldonado- Lodge – Visit Cocha Caimán
Upon arrival from Lima or Cusco, welcome at the airport and transfer to our Puerto Maldonado headquarters (10 min drive). Here you can leave your extra luggage at our safe deposit. This helps us keep the boats and cargo light. Once the group is gathered and all last items are bought, the tour starts with an unforgettable boat trip through the river, Madre de Dios. On the way, we will try to spot alligators, turtles, herons and other animals. Arrival to the Amazon Lodge, check in and lunch. In the afternoon, there will be a tour to Cocha Caiman and a nearby lake, where its possible to find specimens of Black Caiman (Melanosuchus Niger) and Caiman (Caiman crocodiles). After enjoying the spectacular sunset in the Amazon, dinner will be served.

Lodge – Lake Apu Victor – Monkey Island
After breakfast, we´ll start a hike through the forest, while we observe the flooded forest and a variety of Flora and Wildlife. Arrival to the beautiful Lake “Apu Victor” with crystal clear water, surrounded by marshes and giant trees. From the Observation Deck, we´ll enjoy a panoramic view on the lake, observing Parrots, Macaws, Toucans, Camungos, Shanshos, Herons and other animals, such as Caimans, Turtles. This lake is also home of the Giant Otter, one of the rainforest´s most spectacular animals. By noon return to lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, visit to “Monkey Island”, five minutes from the Lodge. During this trip, we will observe the exuberant flora and if lucky be able to spot some monkey species, such as Maquisapas, Capuchins, Small Lion Monkeys, Frailes, Cotos and a great variety of birds. Back to the lodge, we conclude the day with a pleasant dinner.

Lodge – Cocha Perdida
After breakfast, there will be a hike through the jungle to the “Lost Cocha”. Here you will find an ecosystem that hosts a huge variety of animals such as: Otters, Caimans, Turtles, Sachavacas (Tapirs), multicolored birds, the Jaguar and a variety of fish species. This area is unique and well preserved with swamps and over-flooded areas.
There will also be a visit to the Observation Deck, from where we´ll appreciate the immense rainforest from above. Before returning for lunch, there will be a canoe ride around the lake. The afternoon is free for activities according to the interest of the guests. A swim in the pool or relax in the hammock will do it for some, but its also possible to arrange a tour fx to the Botanic Garden, where you can learn more about medical plants.
