Arrival & Discover the World’s Smallest Monkey & Night River Safari
Upon arrival at Iquitos International Airport or your hotel, you will be welcomed by the lodge staff. From there, a private transfer takes you to the Bellavista-Nanay port (approximately 30 minutes). You will then board a boat and journey along the Amazon River before continuing into the Yanayacu River, reaching Muyuna Lodge after approximately 3 hours. The lodge is situated within the Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo Reserve, about 140 km upriver from Iquitos, surrounded by untouched Amazon rainforest.

After check-in, lunch, and a short rest, your first exploration activities begin with your naturalist guide. You will navigate the Yanayacu River by canoe or motorboat, observing the rich wildlife of the area, including monkeys, sloths, iguanas, frogs, and a wide variety of bird species, depending on seasonal and weather conditions.

In the evening, enjoy a night safari by boat, an atmospheric excursion focused on spotting caimans along the riverbanks, as well as other nocturnal wildlife active after dark.

Wildlife & Wonders of the Amazon with Pink River Dolphins
The day begins with breakfast at the lodge, surrounded by the sounds of the Amazon rainforest.

Afterwards, you set out on an excursion to swim in the Amazon River, where you may also observe the region’s iconic pink and grey river dolphins. The journey continues with the observation of the Victoria Regia, the world’s largest aquatic plant, whose impressive floating leaves dominate the still waters. Along the riverbanks, there is also the opportunity to spot iguanas in their natural habitat.

Return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest before heading out again for a traditional piranha fishing experience, guided by local expertise.

In the late afternoon, enjoy a peaceful sunset on Lake Sapote, where the changing colours of the sky reflect over the calm waters, creating a memorable Amazonian landscape.

Dinner is served at the lodge.

The day concludes with a night walk in the rainforest, offering the chance to encounter nocturnal wildlife such as large tarantulas, frogs, and other creatures that emerge after dark.

The day begins before sunrise with nature’s awakening, an early birdwatching experience that requires no prior expertise—only curiosity and a sense of immersion in the rainforest’s morning rhythm.

Kayaking, Botanical Garden & Departure
The morning begins with breakfast at the lodge.

Afterwards, you will enjoy a morning excursion by kayak or canoe, exploring the calm lakes in the Yanayacu area. This experience offers a final opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest at a gentle pace on the water.

Returning to the lodge, there is time to relax and unwind—either resting in hammocks or on comfortable lounge areas, or taking a refreshing swim in the Yanayacu River before departure.

At 1:00 PM, departure begins from the lodge, with transfer by boat and private vehicle back to the airport or your hotel in Iquitos. Arrival is expected at approximately 4:00 PM.
